Developing a nice website is one thing. Using that site as a tool to help your brand stand out amongst the competition is a whole other ball game. Are you confident that your website it truly representing the quality of your product or service? Does your web presence make people want to take notice and choose you over other similar businesses? If not, here are 5 things you can do today to change that.
Be Unique – It may be tempting (especially if you’re on a tight budget) to use cookie-cutter designs and pre-made templates to build your website, but doing so probably won’t get you the results you’re after. If your site looks like everyone else’s, what would make a visitor decide to choose you over them? Your brand is special and you have exclusive qualities to offer your customers. Make sure that’s reflected in the unique design of your website as well.
Optimize – Doesn’t matter how awesome your website is if it’s not being picked up by the search engines. Don’t miss out on increased traffic (and more leads) by neglecting the important task of search engine optimization. Be sure to include the right targeted keywords throughout your site, both in the content and in the background. If you’re not sure how to do this, consult with an expert. It will be well worth the investment.
Make it Easy – When a visitor lands on your website, what kind of experience will he or she have? Is it easy to navigate and find whatever he or she is looking for? Is your contact information displayed where it can be quickly located and utilized? Do your pages load fast and are they designed in a way that is pleasing to the eye? All of these things can mean the difference between a valuable lead and a lost one, so make sure your site offers the best user experience possible.
Provide Value – Don’t just give your visitors information about your company and your products or services. Give them something they can actually use. Create content that entertains, engages, educates (and share it socially) and you’ll naturally start seeing the fruits of your labor. And by that we mean more traffic which means more prospects which leads to a higher conversion rate.
Go Mobile – Actually, given the fact that Google now demands that every single website in existence be mobile-friendly, this one may be a moot point, but it’s worth mentioning just in case there are still some businesses out there that haven’t heard the news. More than half of today’s consumers use mobile devices to access a brand’s website and if your site isn’t optimized to accommodate this, your competitors will gladly step in and take the bait.
Your brand is awesome, there’s no doubt about it. But does your website adequately deliver that message to your prospects? More importantly, does it demonstrate why choosing you over your competitors is the wisest choice? If not, it’s probably time for a change.
